Steel Industry
Industry ChallengesSecondary refining furnaces—such as RH, AOD, and VOD units—operate under some of the most demanding conditions in steelmaking, characterized by extreme temperatures, rapid thermal cycling, chemical erosion from highly basic slag, and high-velocity impingement by molten steel. Traditional refractory materials suffer from short service lives and require frequent replacement, severely impacting production efficiency and safety.
Huawei Refractories provides comprehensive services—including design, supply, installation, and maintenance—for long-life, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly refractory materials used in secondary refining furnaces (such as RH, AOD, and VOD) and vessels like ladles, tundishes, electric arc furnaces, and converters. Huawei’s high-density, spalling-resistant, fused-rebonded magnesia-chrome composite spinel bricks achieve a service life of approximately 180–220 heats for snorkel applications and 350–400 heats for the lower vacuum vessel section at Italy’s Riva Steel. We also offer a range of products tailored to specific furnace types and zones, including direct-bonded magnesia-chrome bricks, magnesia-spinel bricks (chromium-free, eco-friendly products), and magnesia-calcium bricks, alongside full-service solutions covering the design, supply, installation, and maintenance of refractories for RH furnaces.

Nippon Steel Corporation
Huawei’s products set a world record of 525 heats in a 60-ton AOD furnace at Nippon Steel in Japan, stunning the Japanese refractory industry. In 2013, General Manager Zheng Huazhen was invited back for a return visit; the Japanese side accorded him the highest honor—raising the national flag of the People's Republic of China and playing the national anthem—to demonstrate their recognition of the high quality of Huawei’s products.

Maanshan Iron & Steel (Magang) of Russia
Huawei’s high-density, spalling-resistant, fused-rebonded magnesia-chrome composite spinel bricks have achieved a service life of 180–220 cycles for snorkel tubes and 350–400 cycles for the lower section of the vacuum vessel at a Russian steel plant. Representatives from the client visited Huawei specifically to inspect the RH furnace products and highly commended their consistent quality and service life. Huawei has successfully commenced volume supplies to Russian steel enterprises, delivering excellent performance results.

-
India's JSW Steel
Huawei has achieved comprehensive product supply for India’s JSW Steel, covering components such as RH degassers, ladles, and tundishes. The products have performed well and garnered customer satisfaction; with a service life ranging from 180 to 250 heats, they are highly regarded by the user. JSW Steel has fully recognized the high-temperature performance and durability of Huawei’s refractory materials.
